Jeremy Corbyn suggested a German might offer some tips on Europe
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has suggested that British Prime Minister Theresa May should get advice from Jurgen Klopp about getting “a good result in Europe” after Liverpool’s Champions League heroics.
Mr Corbyn referenced the German manager after his side’s stunning comeback to defeat Barcelona last night as he took aim at Mrs May during Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons.
Mr Corbyn paid tribute to Manchester City for their Women’s FA Cup triumph before joking: “In view of the amazing performance of Liverpool last night, perhaps the Prime Minister could take some tips from Jurgen Klopp on how to get a good result in Europe.”
Mr Klopp’s team were 3-0 down after the first leg of their semi-final tie, but won 4-3 on aggregate after a remarkable evening at Anfield.
But Mrs May turned the question around, replying: “I actually think that when we look at the Liverpool win over Barcelona last night, what it shows is that when everyone says it’s all over, that your European opposition have got you beat, the clock is ticking down, it’s time to concede defeat, actually we can still secure success if everyone comes together.”
